Platform meal deliverers called to join the March 7 strike

If you had already planned to telecommute on March 7, the day of the strike against the pension reform, not sure that you can count on the Uber Eats option between two confcalls at noon. The CGT Transports called this Friday the delivery people of the platforms to join the strike against the pension reform of March 7, date on which the unions promised to “put France to a stop”. “Faced with remarks disconnected from all reality, the CGT Transports calls on delivery people to organize themselves to decide on their demands in order to bring them to fruition, and to mobilize from March 7, by stopping work and demonstration, ”wrote in a press release the union, second among delivery people.

Recalling the recent social plan at Just Eat, which aims to “replace its fleet of salaried couriers with self-employed couriers from the subcontractor Stuart”, the CGT Transports expressed concern about the proliferation of this status, which it considers often as “disguised labor” “The sum of pension contributions not paid by delivery platforms could even amount to tens of millions of euros, a direct attack on solidarity”, estimates the union, accusing the government French for having “accompanied the damage to rights in every possible way”.

Difficult to know if the call will be followed up at Deliveroo and other Just Eat, in a sector where the professional elections of May 2022 had met with a very mixed success with the 120,000 workers called to speak, with only 1.83 % of participation among deliverers and 3.91% among VTC. The “classic” unions had also been relegated to the background, the CGT (27.28%) only coming in 2nd position among delivery people, behind the National Federation of Autoentrepreneurs and Microentrepreneurs (FNAE, 28.45% ).
