Planegg – The Café Richter remains – District of Munich

The popular Café Richter at Planegger Bahnhof will remain – albeit in a different form. At the same time there is a generation change: Christian Asemann, the son of Günter Asemann, who ran the café together with his wife Franziska for 45 years, takes over. The gastronomy area is to be leased to someone else, the pastry shop remains and with it the wide range of cakes and other delicacies. The winter garden, which was added a few years ago, is leased.

In the course of the redesign of the entire station district with the construction of apartments, shops and infrastructure facilities including a bus station, there was always talk that the popular meeting place at the station could be closed. The rumors were fueled during the peak phase of the corona pandemic, when the café had to close for nine months in 2020. Naturally, sales collapsed, as in other sectors, Café Richter also lacks staff. Today there are 20 employees, half of whom are confectioners.

There have been restrictions in service in recent years. For example, the daily breakfast and the offer for lunch were no longer available. However, the gourmet breakfast on Sunday has remained. In the future, after renovation work in the summer, Christian Asemann will separate the café. There will only be a small seating area and a small terrace for warm days.
