The municipality of Planegg hoards millions of dollars, not just for fun, but to be prepared for emergencies and foreseeable financial burdens. 1.8 million euros alone have been set aside in recent years in order to be able to deal with future climate protection tasks. That’s what Mayor Hermann Nafziger (CSU) said at the most recent meeting of the main committee, when it was once again a matter of increasing the “special reserve for climate protection concerns” that had already been saved. Years ago, it was decided to save a large amount and add 200,000 euros year after year. In the meantime, 800,000 euros have been raised. Together with one million euros that has been set aside to participate in geothermal projects – probably in the neighboring municipality of Gräfelfing – 1.8 million euros have now been invested for climate projects alone. Mayor Nafziger explained in the committee what the money will be used for at the moment and in the coming years: “We have a lot going on. For example, we are currently examining which locations for wind power are conceivable in Planegg. This requires expensive reports. At some point we will be thankful for.” Nafziger was reacting to a comment by Peter von Schall-Riaucour (PPM). He criticized that the “annual increase alone” does not “serve the climate. At least part of it “should be spent. I think we should get going and maybe develop ideas.” The second mayor, Judith Grimme (Greens), recalled that the municipality recently employed its own climate manager: “As far as I know, he is arranging things. “

Year after year, Planegg, like all other municipalities, has to pay the district levy In view of the current excellent financial situation of the municipality, treasurer Katharina Gaspers naturally expects taxes in the double-digit millions to be paid to the district of Munich for the coming years. The main committee therefore decided to “freeze” 24 million euros for the 2024 district levy, an absolute record sum. The money must not be touched until the next budget is passed.
