Planegg – prelude to a new music school – district of Munich

After months of arguments about the music school in Würmtal, which ultimately led to the demolition of the old music school structure, they now want to risk a new beginning. Philipp Pollems, the new chairman of the school, which will now officially be called the “Musikschule an der Würm”, wants to found a support association first. Its main task should be to “offer a platform” to the parents of the students, as the school said in a statement. Naturally, this also includes raising money for new ideas in addition to subsidies for the association from the municipalities of Planegg and Krailling.

The two communities currently transfer around 400,000 euros from tax revenue per budget year. However, the money is not enough for new and desired activities, says the new chairman Pollems, who is also a municipal councilor. There is “only a certain amount of leeway available”. Music school director Fabian Bögelsack wants to expand the range of instruments, introduce more digital forms of teaching and also make music lessons possible for those who are less well off socially.

On Wednesday, March 15, there will be an information event on the most important topics in the school’s concert hall at Pasinger Straße 16, starting at 6:30 p.m. Music school director Bögelsack emphasizes that “great value is placed on high quality and we would like to make it possible for all children and young people to take part in musical life. We would like to constantly expand our range of offers”. A constitutive founding meeting is to follow. At the beginning of May, the new association wants to present itself at a benefit concert in the Planegger Kupferhaus.

The announcements show that the immediate past with many internal quarrels, which are often also fought out in public, is to be left behind: The new sponsoring association is intended to be a mouthpiece for the citizens “to improve the music school work in dialogue,” says Bögelsack . The new supporting association consists of only eight founding members, including the two mayors Hermann Nafziger from Planegg (CSU) and Rudolph Haux (FDP) from Krailling. In the old sponsoring association, anyone interested could become a member with the right to vote. This is no longer possible. The new association could give parents a say, says Pollems.
