Planegg – dispute among nature conservationists – district of Munich

The Bund Naturschutz (BN) protested with sharp words against the plans of the municipality of Planegg for an expansion of the Steinkirchen industrial park. In a statement by the Würmtaler local group, it is said that a new building and an expansion by the companies Sanacorp and Eurofins by a total of 10,000 square meters in the eastern part of Semmelweisstrasse would “permanently seal additional areas in the northern Würmtal.” One could not accept this, especially since the recently adopted zoning plan of the municipality provides for “no expansion” here. The Bund Naturschutz doubts that Sanacorp needs a new company headquarters and believes that a renovation of the existing building will be sufficient. New buildings are associated with “a significantly larger CO₂ footprint.” In addition, Semmelweisstrasse must be extended to the Lichtwegweiher biotope – which Planegg’s mayor Hermann Nafziger (CSU) vehemently denies: “There will be no significant extension, just an underground car park and the vehicles will have to turn around.”

In the matter there is apparently also a dispute within the federal nature conservation. Dorit Zimmermann, who signed the press release, criticizes local councilor Peter von Schall-Riaucour (Pro Planegg & Martinsried), who, like his parliamentary group colleague Philipp Pollems, sits on the board of the Federal Nature Protection Agency, but supports the industrial area. Schall-Riaucour had asked the BN to withdraw the critical press release because it had not been discussed. The politician denies this: “I just want such a press release to be approved by the entire board. And that did not happen.” Zimmermann, on the other hand, speaks of a “conflict of interest” between the two Planegger municipal councils: “Such a merging must be prevented because it torpedoes any independent press work for the benefit of nature and the environment.”
