Pinar Atalay: “If a lateral thinker just explains to me why he thinks that, I think it’s okay”

“I never felt like I was off work!” Says Pinar Atalay im star-Podcast “The Boss”. She talks to hostess Simone Menne about her move from ARD to RTL, reports on how she deals with lateral thinkers and reveals what clothes she never wears on TV on election night.

Her end in the “daily topics” caused a stir: Pinar Atalay recently became the journalistic figurehead of the RTL broadcaster. Atalay moderates the news formats “RTL aktuell” and “RTL direkt” alongside Jan Hofer. The decision to do so was easy for her, she says in an interview with hostess Simone Menne star-Podcast “The Boss”. “I thought: ‘Man, you can now dare!’ I certainly wouldn’t have done it if I’d known now that I’m only doing a show in quotation marks,” says Atalay. The overall package was better – also financially. “I always say financially: I would be a bit stupid if I didn’t earn more than before.” Ultimately, however, that was not the decisive factor.
Pinar Atalay started out as an entrepreneur with her own boutique
In the podcast, the 43-year-old talks about her professional beginnings as the operator of a boutique in her hometown of Lemgo and explains how she deals with minority opinions in her programs. “I think we are obliged to allow different opinions, as long as they are based on the basic democratic order, as long as other minorities are not hurt and insulted. (…) So if a lateral thinker just explains to me why he thinks that, I think that’s fine, but then I have to classify it again, I have to contrast facts.”
In “The Boss – Power is Female” top women talk among themselves: hostess and multi-board member Simone Menne (including BMW, Deutsche Post DHL, Henkel) meets female bosses from all areas of society to talk to them about their lives and careers. “Die Boss” appears fortnightly on Wednesdays on stern.de and the Youtube channel of staras well as on AudioNow and all common podcast platforms.
