The end of the suspense on the future of Pierre Gasly. The French pilot Formula 1 got involved with Alpine from next season, “for several years”, learns 20 minutes of the French team, and of the driver’s agent. After nine years with RedBull, the 26-year-old driver “takes an important step in his career”, joining the Alpine team, currently 5th in the constructors’ championship, just behind McLaren.

“Driving for a French team is very special”

“I am delighted to join the Alpine family and start a new chapter in my Formula 1 career. Driving for a French team is something very special. I know the strengths of Alpine, having raced against their cars in the past years, and clearly, their progress and ambitions are impressive”, rejoiced the pilot, without forgetting to thank RedBull.

Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, current Alpine driver, will form next year “the first 100% French entity in F1 since 1995”. The team based in Dieppe and Enstone, England, was looking for its second driver since the announcement of the departure of Fernando Alonso at Aston Martin. Pierre Gasly hopes to “give the maximum and use all [s]we experience for [se] fight for podiums”. His collaboration with Esteban Ocon will be closely scrutinized, after tensions between the two drivers in the lower categories.
