Commemorating the victims of the Wall: Franziska Giffey (SPD), Governing Mayor of Berlin, lays a wreath on Bernauer Strasse. Numerous commemorative events were held to commemorate the fact that on August 13, 1961, the GDR began building the wall around the western part of Berlin.
