At the end of Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” the enthusiasm for the pianist Yuja Wang and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in the Isarphilharmonie is immense. This isn’t the most convincing performance of the evening. Despite the effort to achieve elasticity in this version for piano and jazz salon orchestra, this is exactly what doesn’t really come through.
