Pianist Vadim Neselovskyi with his “Odesa Suite” in the Bayerischer Hof – Munich

Genre boundaries are no obstacle for the Ukrainian pianist and composer Vadim Neselovskyi: His career has crossed paths with jazz greats such as Gary Burton and Julian Lange, as well as with the Graz Philharmonic and the saxophonist and all-rounder John Zorn.

On Wednesday, June 7, the musician, who was born in Odessa in 1977 and was already classically trained at the conservatory at the age of 15, will play his “Odesa” suite at the Bayerischer Hof, a touching musical journey through his hometown, which was hit hard by the war became. Particularly striking: Neselovskyi wrote the work, which, among other things, deals with the Battle of Odessa in 1941, even before the Russian invasion. The bomb-mimicking piano chords now evoke images that are much closer in time.

Vadim Neselovskyi, Wednesday, June 7th, 9 p.m., Night Club in the Hotel Bayerischer Hof, Promenadeplatz 2-6, info and tickets at www.bayerischerhof.de
