Philips unsheathes its finest blade, but is the shave better?

Six years after having turned the world of shaving upside down with its OneBlade, Philips continues to accessorize its little razor, which has sold millions of copies worldwide, with no real rival, and available in different versions. With his new blade OneBlade 360 that “20 Minutes” had fun testing, the manufacturer wants to make its OneBlade even more practical and precise. Verdict.

A blade at the heart of the experience

Since 2016, the year when Philips launched its OneBlade razor, to this month of November 2022 when the manufacturer advances its OneBlade 360 blade, the success has not been denied. Disruptive, by allowing you to shave more simply, but also to sculpt the contours of your beard and mustache, to stylize your body, even to cut your hair, the OneBlade now has a new blade, the OneBlade 360 .

The OneBlade is the heart of the system. It is extremely thin and smooth, runs back and forth and performs 200 movements per second. Anyone who tries it, recognizes its flexibility, its softness, but also its shaving quality, without stretching and without any real risk of cutting.

Philips now wanted it even more agile. On the handle of one of the various OneBlade razors (classic, First Shave, Pro), the “historic” OneBlade blade pivots up and down. The OneBlade 360 blade can also pivot from left to right.

Useful, but not essential

Test result: it fits the contours of the face much better, which allows a more homogeneous cut than previously. Tested several times during a week of testing, the OneBlade 360 blade proved to be very pleasant to use. His range seems to have improved. It is really useful on the parts of the face or the body where it is necessary to press it well so that it follows the curves of our anatomy as closely as possible.

With or without a hoof (for a shave whose height is controlled, or a white shave), the new blade finds its purpose, for example, around the jaw or on a muscular bust. Inveterate cyclists will be able to appreciate it on their shapely calves. On the other hand, the blade will be useless for a simple small maintenance, or outline. It is useful, but not essential.

For a few euros more

Because if you look closely, it is not given. Obviously still sold only individually, the OneBlade 360 blade is worth 17.99 euros, against 14.90 euros for the usual OneBlade blade. The classic OneBlade blade can also be purchased in pairs or threes, which can reduce its cost by up to 10 euros per unit. Knowing that its lifespan is equivalent, the calculation is quickly done…
