According to initial investigations, the vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier on a curve and then fell into the ravine. This is apparently not the first accident at this location.

In the serious bus accident on the According to new authorities in the Philippines, fewer people have died than initially stated. Civil protection and police said 17, not 28, passengers were killed when the bus plunged into a ravine on Tuesday.

A total of 28 people were on the bus. The surviving eleven people were partly seriously injured, said Broderick Train, head of the local disaster control department. It took emergency services ten hours to rescue everyone from the rubble.

The vehicle left the road on a dangerous curve in a mountainous area near the town of Hamtic on the southern tip of Panay Island. According to initial investigations, the vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier and then fell into the ravine. There have already been several accidents at this point, said the provincial governor. The accident happened about 450 kilometers south of the capital Manila.
