Philippe Bas “gets out of the box” and takes the helm of M6’s new adventure game

“It was an opportunity to get out of the box,” he declared this Wednesday afternoon during a meeting on M6 with several media outlets, including 20 minutes. Philippe Bas will be in charge of Destinationthe channel’s new adventure game, the release date of which is still being kept secret.

The 50-year-old actor, currently showing at the cinema in Completely burnt out and that viewers know in particular for the role of Commander Thomas Rocher which he played for eight seasons in the series Profiling on TF1, specifies that his function in the show is not quite that of a presenter. “I play a character while remaining natural and embracing the qualities of an animator that I don’t have,” he emphasized.

“Choose someone who symbolizes action”

“The brief was not to take an animator but someone who symbolizes the action. It was refreshing to have Philippe with us,” explained Pierre-Guillaume Ledan, deputy general director of programs in charge of streaming programs at M6.

“When I was offered the program, I was quite enthusiastic. It’s an interesting challenge, said Phillippe Bas. When you are an actor, you like to participate in works where there is an element of dream. In this format, there is adventure, intrigue…”

Destination is the adaptation, by ITV Studios France, of the Belgian concept of the same title born from the imagination of the company Geronimo. Ten contestants board a bus specially designed for the show. The vehicle, 14 m long, 4 m high and 2.5 m wide, is arranged on two floors. It includes ten berths and its windows are completely opaque.

Success in Belgium

And for good reason: the participants do not know where the bus is taking them and have to guess. Clues scattered throughout the settings or offered in the event of victory in the tests are supposed to put them on the path. Philippe Bas will appear regularly during the episodes, mainly via videos, to announce the games or provide details on the rules. This French season was filmed in September, for 28 days.

Broadcast in February on the Flemish channel VRT, Destination was an audience success in Belgium. M6 was the first channel to acquire the rights to this format, even before its broadcast. She beat three other countries, including Germany and the United States, which will also adapt the concept. It is the same bus, registered in Belgium, which is used on all the shoots.
