Mushroom pickers followed the cries for help from a forest in the Neu-Ulm district and found an injured forest worker. The 53-year-old man was trapped under a massive tree trunk while sawing work near Pfaffenhofen, the police said on Sunday. He could no longer free himself independently.
The helpers did not succeed at first either. According to the police, they called for help from other forest workers who were working a few hundred meters away. They were finally able to lift the tree trunk with the help of a tractor. Since serious injuries had to be assumed, a rescue helicopter was already approaching for landing. An emergency doctor found severe bruises on the man’s leg. According to initial findings, there is no third-party debt.
