Peter Weiss Prize to Sharon Dodua Otoo is suspended: writer reacts – culture

On November 27th, the city of Bochum announced on its homepage that the Peter Weiss Prize, which it sponsored, would be awarded to the German-British writer Sharon Dodua Otoo in March of next year. Only hours later, the blog “Ruhrbarone” pointed out that the author had signed an open letter from the British BDS branch “Artists for Palestine”, and again just a few hours later the city of Bochum suspended the award ceremony in order to examine the matter : “If the allegations are true, awarding the prize to Ms. Otoo is unthinkable.”
