Anyone who recently heard a loud bang in the area around the farmland south of the property on Gustav-Heinemann-Ring and Ludwig-Linsert-Strasse in Munich-Perlach shouldn’t be surprised. Several anti-aircraft positions from the Second World War have been identified on the site. As a result, a company for explosive ordnance disposal carried out blasting there on Tuesday for the third time, as reported by Johannes Mayer, press spokesman for the district administration department. And it probably won’t be the last.
Four grenades each were rendered harmless in two explosions on Tuesday. For security reasons, a restricted area with a radius of 70 meters was set up south of the Gustav-Heinemann-Ring in Munich and east of the Berghammer Weg in the Unterbiberg district of Neubiberg. These were grenades that could no longer be transported and therefore had to be detonated on site. Normally, the company used transports the found ammunition parts away and renders them harmless. As Mayer reports, the soundings for further ordnance in the area continue.
If more finds are found, which the spokesman says is likely, and more demolitions are needed, security areas will be re-established there. The residents in Munich had been informed in advance by means of an information letter about the measures, and the Unterbibergers concerned received the corresponding general decree from the community in their mailbox, according to the head of the regulatory office, Fabian Sass.
