The first time you read it, you’ll be amazed. Can this really be true? Yes, that’s exactly how it is. The renovation and conversion of Berlin’s Pergamon Museum will take 24 years, as the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation announced on Monday. Not twelve, as it was called in 2013 when work began. Not even 22 years, as was promised in 2020, but twice as long. A quarter century. And you know what such forecasts are worth.
