Loris Karius is back on the football stage. After his contract with Liverpool expired in the summer, the goalkeeper without a club is now joining Premier League rivals Newcastle United. The 29-year-old has signed a contract with the Magpies until January, with an option to extend it until the end of the season.
Karius will not have a direct path between the posts at Newcastle. The German goalkeeper is planned as a clear substitute behind regular goalkeeper Nick Pope, who was hired in the summer. The Magpies had given their number two Martin Dubravka to Manchester United on Deadline Day. In addition, substitute Karl Darlow was also injured.
