Diadie Samassekou is on loan from TSG Hoffenheim to Olympiacos Piraeus. There is also a purchase option.

Now the change is perfect: Diadie Samassekou, who at 14 million euros is the most expensive purchase in the club’s history, is leaving TSG Hoffenheim and moving to Olympiacos Piraeus on loan. He previously extended his contract in Kraichgau until 2025.

Since the transfer window in Greece only closes this Friday, the transfer of the Malian international is possible. Piraeus is initially loaning Samassekou until the summer of 2023, but then, according to media reports, has a purchase option of around 13 million euros. The purchase price of 2019 would thus almost be recovered.

Samassekou was signed by RB Salzburg three years ago with great expectations, but he was never able to really put his stamp on the Kraichgauer game. With the arrival of Andre Breitenreiter, his situation deteriorated significantly: After six matchdays in the Bundesliga, the Malian only made two substitutions.

“Diadie was extremely unhappy with his current sporting situation,” revealed TSG director Alexander Rosen, “and approached us with the urgent desire for a change. With the possibility that Diadie would get more playing time at a top club like Olympiacos Piraeus, we have found a very good solution in the interest of everyone, which gives us the option to reassess the situation after the end of this season.”
