Pepper spray attack in Starnberg high school – Munich

After a pepper spray attack at the Starnberg high school on Thursday morning, 20 students were taken to hospital with some severe symptoms. Four of them are considered seriously injured, a police spokesman said. A total of 78 people were affected by the effects of the spray.

The incident occurred during the first break in the auditorium. The irritant gas was sprayed by a group of four people, reports Frank Brosch, deputy head of the police station. It is unclear who and how many people in the group are the perpetrators. The motive for the crime was also initially unknown.

The German Abitur exam was written during the large-scale operation. But the graduates remained undisturbed, said school principal Thomas Volz SZ. A large contingent of police, emergency services and fire services were on duty in front of and in the school building until the afternoon. Roads in the area were temporarily closed and traffic was backed up far towards the Garmisch Autobahn.
