Triumph on penalties: Croatia sensationally reach the semifinals – Brazil are out
Croatia made it through to the World Cup semi-finals by beating on penalties. Brazil initially took the lead in extra time, but the Croatians equalized just minutes before the end. The hero of the Croatians is once again keeper Livakovic.
The Croatian national team created the sensation of knocking Brazil out of the tournament on penalties. In the end, the team around superstar Luka Modric won 4: 2, also thanks to keeper Livakovic. For a long time, the Seleção had struggled with the robustly defending Croatians. The Brazilians only managed to create chances in the second half, but without success. The game went into extra time at the Education Stadium in Doha with a 0-0 draw. In added time in the first half of extra time, the Brazilians finally took the lead thanks to a stroke of genius from Neymar. When the Brazilians looked set to win, Croatia equalized through Bruno Petkovic in the 117th minute and it went to penalties.
