The first four hours of the general meeting of the new PEN Berlin have passed, the new association has successfully transitioned from the provisional phase of the founding phase to the status of a regular association, when there is a rhetorical banter in the Fritz-Reuter-Saal of the Humboldt University in Berlin, that you can’t call anything other than a fight. The young Swiss author Donat Blum criticizes that the communication between the board – i.e. the executive board – and the members leaves a lot to be desired, and now complains that Deniz Yücel told him during the break that he would no longer speak to him, Blum: ” And he yelled at me.” Yücel, in turn, calls this and that onto the stage, including the fact that it’s about “talking, but not fussing around”.
