Peace demonstration at the Brandenburg Gate: missed chance – opinion

Yes, there are half a million signatures under their “peace manifesto”. Yes, on Saturday many thousands of people came to their rally in Berlin for a German peace initiative in Russia’s war against Ukraine. And yes, after a year of war that is causing death and every imaginable further suffering in Ukraine and undermining the sense of security of people all over Europe, the commitment of civil society to peace is understandable. It might even be important. In Germany, however, an unfocused ego show is currently being passed as a peace movement that can be connected, as was seen at the Brandenburg Gate on Saturday. How annoying, what a pity.
