Peace activist Claus Schreer has died – Munich

The Munich pacifist was the face of an alert, tireless resistance. He organized demonstrations against nuclear power, racism and the security conference.

Young Claus Schreer was one of the first men in Germany to refuse military service. That was in 1956. He had to appear at a court hearing for meticulous questioning, and in the end he was decommissioned. But for him this was the starting point in a life that made the graphic designer the best-known peace activist in Munich – with a radiant effect on the entire left-wing scene, nationwide and Europe-wide.
