Pays-de-la-Loire placed in orange rain and flood vigilance

Météo-France placed five departments in the west on orange rain / flood vigilance on Saturday: Loire-Atlantique (44), Maine-et-Loire (49), Mayenne (53), Sarthe (72) and Vendée (85). The rains start at midday and intensify over the hours, especially from the evening. A water depth of 40 to 60 mm is expected over a large area, even locally up to 80 mm.

Over Brittany and Cotentin, the sky will be overcast in the morning and showers will be frequent. But during the morning, the rains will become more widespread while the southerly wind will strengthen. In the afternoon, from Brittany and Hauts-de-France to the Paris region, Pays-de-la-Loire and up to Poitou-Charentes, the weather will become particularly disturbed and will continue until evening, with sustained rains and a strong southerly wind.

Less busy time in Occitanie, Paca and Rhône-Alpes

The wind will blow in gusts up to 60 to 80 km / h, or even 90 km / h, and up to 100 km / h on the coast. The following night, the wind will gradually weaken, on the other hand from Brittany and the Pays-de-la-Loire to the Belgian border, the rains will remain constant, generalized and lasting. They will give important accumulations. In the rest of the country, except Corsica where some thunderstorms may occur in the morning, the weather will remain dry for a good part of the day, but the sky will be cloudy from Aquitaine to the Massif Central and to the North-East. . Occitanie, Paca and Rhône-Alpes will benefit from less cloudy weather, the sky will remain bright on the Côte d’Azur.

On the other hand, the south to south-easterly wind will strengthen over the hours over the south and east of the hexagon. Until the afternoon, it will blow up to 60 to 70 km / h. But from the evening, in the Pyrenees it will exceed 100 km / h, in particular on the ridges, while from Occitanie to the Massif Central, the Rhône valley and the Saône Valley it will reach 70 to 80 km / h , even 90 km / h. In addition, over the Languedoc the sky will cover and the rain will begin to fall on the Cévennes at the beginning of the night, announcing a Cévennes episode.

Minimum temperatures will go up a little with 7 to 13 degrees in general, up to 18 near the Mediterranean, 20 in Corsica. The maximums will range between 17 and 22 degrees from Brittany, Pays-de-la-Loire and Poitou-Charentes to the northern borders, 21 to 26 degrees in the south, up to 27 or 28 in southern Aquitaine, in the Var or in Corsica.
