It all started as a child with a desire for rebellion. “I come from a family of jazz musicians. When I was little, I used to scream that I wanted to be a harpist. I started at 4 years old, I went to the conservatory, entered competitions, and to devote myself fully to it, I organized myself to pass my baccalaureate by correspondence. It was a very intensive program,” she says.

“An incredible crush”

So when the harp “became unbearable” to her because a teacher undermined her confidence, she wonders what’s left. The taste for the stage has not left her. Why not become an actress? Pauline Chagne enrolled in Cours Florent, specializing in theater and musical comedy. She gave 400 performances in France and rediscovered, while playing it, the desire to return to music, began to rewrite texts and met the composer Antonin Tardy.

Then she discovers the electric harp. “It was an incredible crush. She revolutionized the image I had of this instrument,” says the young woman. All the pieces to which she gives life are adorned with these sounds.

The very “eighties” Pauline Night, with which she will defend her chances in the selection for Eurovision on Saturday on France 2, is one of them. “It’s a song from my first EP released at the end of last year. It bears my first name, but it could be renamed according to the person who listens to it. It’s about writing the film of your life, being the heroine of your own feature film, explains the author. She is very cinematic. It’s a declaration of love to the cinema icons who shaped me. »

“There will be glitter and French elegance”
