As expected, Patrick Balkany was released from prison on Friday. His release was done discreetly early in the morning, without the journalists present in front of the remand center failing to see him, assured his entourage. The former LR mayor of Levallois-Perret should return to his mansion in Giverny in the Eure, after several months of detention in Fleury-Mérogis (Essonne).
Sentenced in 2019 to 4 years in prison for tax evasion, Patrick Balkany had applied for a sentence adjustment after returning to prison. On Thursday, the Paris Court of Appeal granted his request for conditional release.
His wife Isabelle tweeted: “WEATHER ALERT Vigilance Orange Eure and #Levallois Notice of strong storm of friendship, benevolence, affection, tenderness and hugs…” followed by many emoticons.
