In Guines, insurance companies refuse to compensate the president of an animal shelter

The Nature du Marais educational park, an animal shelter in Guines, was submerged by water on November 4.

Vegetable gardens, beekeeping, greenhouses for birds… The entire area is submerged under several tens of centimeters of water. Of the 200 animals on the educational farm, 155 were evacuated in time.

If the insurance companies told him that the damage to his house, located in the middle of the park, would be well compensated, they will not give a single cent to cover the repairs of the shelter.

Reinforcements from the Red Cross and the civil protection of Bas-Rhin as reinforcements

Reinforcements from Bas-Rhin arrived in Pas-de-Calais to help the victims.

For the Red Crossthe first volunteers arrived during the night from Sunday to Monday to participate, among other things, in the operation of emergency accommodation centers, collection and sorting, the distribution of equipment and meals and the cleaning of affected homes.

“We are really faced with people who are in need who have a lot of personal effects destroyed, it’s really a very touching operation for us, which we take to heart”, testifies Léo, a volunteer from Colmar, at BFM Alsace.

For its part, Civil Protection sent a team of three vehicles and 6 volunteers yesterday, including a truck and a canoe.

A lull expected today before the rain returns

The inhabitants of Pas-de-Calais will observe a lull today with dry and sunny weather but it will be short-lived.

Emmanuel Macron announced an emergency fund of 50 million euros

Traveling in Pas-de-Calais yesterday with Brigitte Macron, the Head of State announced the creation of an emergency compensation fund of 50 million euros.

“We are going to set up a specific fund which will complement what the agricultural disaster system has put in place,” he added.

Schools are gradually reopening today

The Pas-de-Calais prefecture announced yesterday the gradual reopening of schools in the department from today. A decision taken due to the drop in precipitation.

It will not apply to all establishments. “Certain school circuits” are still affected by rising water levels and establishments remain inaccessible at this stage.
