Pas-de-Calais: a tax officer killed during a tax audit

A tax officer was killed on Monday during a tax audit at a second-hand goods dealer in Bullecourt (Pas-de-Calais), announced Monday evening in the Senate the Minister of Public Accounts, Gabriel Attal.

“This man was simply doing his job, his job, like every day. Today, he did not come back, he was killed in the context of this tax audit, ”continued the minister, addressing his thoughts to the family and loved ones of the victim.

“Tonight, the public service has the face of this brigade leader,” added Gabriel Attal, who will be there on Tuesday morning.

According to initial information, the 43-year-old man, head of the verification brigade in the Pas-de-Calais, was killed by “several stab wounds” after being kidnapped with a colleague who accompanied him on this tax audit. The latter, a tax inspector, was “found at the home of the junk dealer, tied to a chair and deeply shocked,” said a source close to the investigation to AFP.

The junk dealer committed suicide. “At the time of the arrival of the gendarmes, the two men were dead”, according to this same source.

The research section of the Hauts-de-France gendarmerie was in charge of the investigation.
