Part-time trap: More and more employees work part-time – economy

Despite all the political efforts to expand childcare and care services, millions of employees in Germany still work less than they actually want. Women in particular are unwilling to work part-time. This emerges from a response from the federal government to a question from the left in the Bundestag, which the Süddeutsche Zeitung present. According to this, 10.2 million people are now working part-time (as of mid-2022), which is almost 30 percent of all employees subject to social security contributions. And it is significantly more than ten years ago, in 2012 there were still 7.3 million (almost 25 percent) employees.
