Paramedic transporting 20 kilos of cannabis sentenced

Surely he thought he was safe from suspicion driving his ambulance. A 37-year-old man was tried on Thursday before the Laval judicial court (Mayenne) for having participated in drug trafficking, reports France Blue Mayenne.

On January 10, 2020, the paramedic was intercepted by customs officers near the Saint-Berthevin toll booth with 20 kg of cannabis resin stashed in his professional vehicle. At the time of the check, two patients were also inside the ambulance.

His accomplice arrested six months later

Six months later, the man who gave him the drugs was arrested. At his home, the police had discovered a sum of 68,000 euros in cash, cocaine, handguns, a wave detector and a GPS tracker, specifies West France.

They were both sentenced to three years in prison, a sentence accompanied by a probationary suspension of two years. They will be able to serve their sentence at home with an electronic bracelet. They will also have to pay a penalty of 179,000 euros to customs.
