A 64-year-old paraglider crashed and died in the Rosenheim district. According to the first findings, he lost control of the glider shortly after the start on Saturday near Brannenburg, the police said.
A so-called leeward roll of the wind was therefore probably the cause. He then fell about ten meters down. The 64-year-old died at the crash site from his severe injuries. Lee rolls are air vortices that arise in the mountains during gravity waves – waves in the atmosphere.
