After his fall, he suffered particularly serious head trauma: he died a week after the incident. This Tuesday, the ANSM is giving new recommendations to prevent such a tragedy from happening again.
It was a tragedy that shook the Nantes academy (Loire-Atlantiques) on October 19: a 5th grade student, aged 12, who had just been vaccinated against the papillomavirus suffered vagal discomfort one day. fifteen minutes after the injection. The schoolboy, who fell heavily to the ground, suffered head trauma: he died a week after the incident.

Last Monday, October 30, the Regional Health Agency of Pays-de-la-Loire insisted, indicating that the death of the young man had nothing to do with the papillomavirus vaccine: “This type of discomfort can occur from causes stress caused by vaccination but is unrelated to the vaccine product or to a defect in the quality of the vaccine”, the health authorities then mentioned. The fact remains that the health authorities now wish to adapt the “post-vaccination surveillance” instructions to prevent tragedies of this kind from occurring again.
“Simple measures”
In a press release shared this Tuesday, November 14, the National Medicines Agency (ANSM) issued new recommendations for health professionals who are required to monitor students after their vaccination: “It is important that simple measures are taken. put in place to avoid any injury: vaccinated people must remain lying down (on floor mats or blankets) or sitting on the ground with their backs against a wall in a clear space.

The structure evokes on the one hand a possible risk of “discomfort” after vaccination. Health authorities indicate that post-vaccination discomfort is generally “uncommon and resolves quickly”. The latter, which “may be accompanied by tremors or stiffness”, are very often the result of a “psychogenic reaction to the injection”. The vaccination campaign against human papillomaviruses began last October. This should make it possible to fight more effectively against many cancers.
