Paola Cortellesi’s film “Tomorrow will be another day” broke all records in Italy – she was inspired by her grandmother

Paola Cortellesi broke all audience records in her homeland with a tragicomedy about gender-based violence in post-war Italy. Now “Tomorrow is another day” is coming to German cinemas. A film, says the director, in which laughter exposes the ridiculousness of the violence.

With truth and an ironic undertone, Paola Cortellesi, 50, paints a touching portrait of Italian society in the 1940s. Her directorial debut is about gender-based violence. Ivano beats his wife Delia, who also took on the main role Paola Cortellesi. Delia submits and hopes that her daughter will find a good man, a good match. However, when she falls into the same trap as her mother, Delia realizes that something has to change. The film has been captivating Italy for months.
