What about Corona in summer? Do planned concerts have to be canceled again? The organizers of open-air festivals are confident that things can start again.

After the pandemic-related cancellation in the past two years, the signs are good for the big open-air festivals such as Hurricane, Deichbrand and M’era Luna in summer 2022.

Despite the currently tense Corona situation, the organizers are confident. “The incidences, which are currently increasing due to the Omicron variant, do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the festival summer, which we are looking forward to with anticipation and extremely optimistically,” said Jonas Rohde, spokesman for the festival organizer FKP Scorpio. For example, FKP Scorpio organizes the Hurricane Festival from June 17th to 19th in Scheeßel and the M’era Luna Festival from August 6th to 7th near Hildesheim.

According to the experience of the past few years and model calculations, it can be assumed that the number of infections will decrease sharply in summer, “so that we see no connection between the current situation and our festivals,” said Rohde.

The organizers of the Deichbrand Festival, which is to take place near Cuxhaven from July 21 to 24, made a similar statement. “That’s why we’re planning the next Deichbrand Festival at full speed and have set ourselves up even more internally for the next festival edition,” said spokeswoman Lena Zielinski.

The organizers did not provide any information on whether and to what extent the festivals will take place with protection and test concepts, with reference to the long lead time. However, reducing the number of visitors is out of the question for them.
