Pallet manufacturers – nails are running out – economy

Because their Nagel suppliers can no longer get steel from Russia, pallet manufacturers are threatened with an extreme material shortage. In a few weeks, the first companies could be forced to shut down their production, said the Federal Association of Wooden Packaging, Pallets and Export Packaging (HPE). 90 percent of the wire steel used to make the nails for pallets comes from Russia. However, steel deliveries are prohibited because of the Russia sanctions. There are therefore no short-term alternatives, since special nails are required. Pallets are very important. Whether groceries, electronics or medicines: everything is transported in boxes that are transported on pallets.
