STORY: The spectacular rescue operation after the cable car accident in Pakistan was successful. All occupants were brought to safety by emergency services on Wednesday night. Seven children and one man got stuck while driving across a ravine on Tuesday. The gondola was caught and hanging at a dangerous angle, almost 300 meters above the ground. Two children were rescued with a military helicopter. A risky move made even more difficult by gusty winds. At nightfall, the operation from the air had to be suspended. Floodlights were installed and the rescue continued from the ground. The occupants were rescued with the help of a zip line. After more than 15 agonizingly long hours, everyone was finally safe. The gorge is located in the mountainous region of Battagram, around 200 kilometers north of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad. The children were taking the cable car to school.
