Outgoing president Christelle Morancais (LR) re-elected quite clearly

The dynamics of the first round have been confirmed. The outgoing president Christelle Morancais (The Republicans) is re-elected this Sunday evening at the head of the regional council of Pays-de-la-Loire, according to an Ipsos Sopra Steria poll taken out of the polls in this second round. With 46.3% of the vote, the candidate, 46, is well ahead of the list of Matthieu Orphelin (EELV-PS-LFI) who would total only 34.5%. A difference large enough not to doubt the final result which will not be known until the end of the evening.

Before going to meet her activists at Place Graslin in Nantes, Christelle Mor though claimed her victory at 8:10 p.m., since the regional hotel. “I thank the voters who trusted me and want to tell those who did not vote for me that I will be a rally president,” she commented, serene. I led a campaign of sincerity, with a lot of determination and also with humility. A victory against a united left, a hard left, a left of decline which has lost its compass. This victory gives me even more strength to fight for this beautiful region. “

Voices recovered from LREM and the RN

The regional president wanted to send a message to the right. “This liberal, European, central right, strong on the regal, when it is united, it wins. It must not shrink. On the contrary, it must open. It opens up a lot of perspectives. “

The victory of the Republicans this Sunday evening can be explained in part by a postponement of favorable votes to the right. Credited respectively by 10.8% and 8.3%, the RN list of Hervé Juvin and the LREM list of François de Rugy indeed see their score crumble compared to the first round.

First victory on his name

Christelle Morancais confirmed this Sunday evening that her priority would be “employment” and that she would create a post of vice-president for security, a topic which is not, however, a specific competence of a regional council.

As a reminder, this is the first electoral victory of Christelle Morancais on her behalf in the regional since she had taken over from Bruno Retailleau, constrained by the law on the plurality of mandates, in October 2017.
