“Out the French” … A second home tagged on the island of Ouessant

” Angry “. It is accompanied by these two words that the owner of a second home on the island of Ouessant (Finistère) posted the photo of his tagged house. On the image, we can read this message: “PNB. Brittany to the Bretons, outside the French”. According to our colleagues from Telegram, the house is a family residence that belongs to a Breton couple from the island of Ouessant. It is not rented and only used by the family.

Commenting on his photo, the owner received support from former minister François de Rugy, whose house on the island had been tagged by yellow vests in 2018, when he was President of the National Assembly. The three letters “PNB” could refer to the Breton National Party, a far-right party.

Parisians, but not in the majority

In his study posted last week, INSEE revealed that 43% of second homes in Brittany were owned by Bretons. Just over 30% of these houses or apartments belong to families domiciled in Île-de-France. About 12% of housing in the region are second homes, which places Brittany in 4th position behind Corsica, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Occitanie.
