The German handball players are missing the European Championship final – Juri Knorr in particular is deeply affected and disappointed. The feeling remains that the big favorites Denmark were on the verge of defeat.
The disappointment was huge and palpable everywhere. Captain Johannes Golla stared at the hall floor for many seconds, Julian Köster curled up on the bench, Juri Knorr buried his face in a green towel. “It hurts incredibly,” said cyclist Jannik Kohlbacher, who was one of the first to put the events into words. Golla explained a little later: “This opportunity won’t come back any time soon.”
