Ostallgäu district: 18-year-old steals tractor for a long joyride – Bavaria

An 18-year-old is said to have stolen a new tractor from the manufacturer’s yard in Ostallgäu, Bavaria, for a joyride several hundred kilometers long. According to police, the suspect said during his interrogation on Friday that he was a big fan of the tractor brand. He had therefore prepared the crime very carefully on Tuesday. He came from the administrative region of Düsseldorf (North Rhine-Westphalia), wore brand-specific clothing and had fake company-specific markings for test drives that he had made specifically for this purpose. He also installed a fake license plate on the agricultural machine.

He was able to steal the keys to the tractor, which cost more than 300,000 euros, and then drove several hundred kilometers to Middle Franconia and back. When the 18-year-old wanted to return the vehicle to the company premises on Wednesday, the employees noticed his rapid driving style. Employees then stopped him and called the police. The young man now has to answer for, among other things, theft, forging documents and driving without a license.
