“I Say a Little prayer”, “Walk on buy” or “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head”: Burt Bacharach had a talent for catchy songs. The composer, with whose hits stars like Aretha Franklin and Frank Sinatra celebrated success, has now died at the age of 94.
The US composer and Oscar winner Burt Bacharach is dead. Bacharach died on Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 94, according to his spokeswoman Tina Brausam. She spoke of a natural cause of death.
The composer wowed millions with tunes like “Walk on By” and “Do You Know the Way to San Jose” and won Grammys and Golden Globes, among others.
Dionne Warwick was Bacharach’s favorite interpreter.

Songs for Aretha Franklin and Tom Jones
Bacharach had a talent for catchy songs that continued to be played long after they were made. He celebrated hits from the 1950s to the 21st century, including “Alfie”, “I Say a Little Prayer”, “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again” or “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head”. Bacharach composed more than 500 songs that have been recorded and released by more than 1200 artists.
Dionne Warwick was his favorite singer, but Bacharach also created songs for Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones and many others, mostly with lyricist Hal David. In the 1960s alone, Bacharach and his lyricist David had 30 hits that made the top 40 on the charts. Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Frank Sinatra were among the countless artists who covered his songs.
