According to British media, “Oppenheimer” star Cillian Murphy is said to be the new favorite to succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond.
Who will be the next 007? Few questions have bothered film fans more in recent months and years. After all, it is not only important to find a successor for the iconic Bond actor Daniel Craig (56), but also to continue one of the most popular and successful film series in cinema history. According to the British “Sun”, a new favorite for the vacant Bond role has now emerged, and he is no stranger: “Oppenheimer” star and Oscar favorite Cillian Murphy (47).

At the Oscars next weekend, the Irish star is the clear favorite to win the Academy Award for Best Actor. With his ice-cold blue eyes, he impressed in Christopher Nolan’s (53) blockbuster “Oppenheimer” as the historical figure J. Robert Oppenheimer, the “father of the atomic bomb.”
Long-time Bond producer Barbara Broccoli (63) is said to have noticed this possibly best acting performance of the past year. The 63-year-old has been watching Murphy closely over the past year, an unnamed source tells The Sun, adding: “Cillian is the star in Hollywood at the moment and this would be the ultimate role.”
There’s still a lot of time until the next Bond film
However, the Bond makers around Barbara Broccoli and her half-brother Michael G. Wilson (82) can still take a little time to decide who should become the next agent in His Majesty’s Secret Service. Production on the 26th Bond film from Eon Productions is not scheduled to start until the end of next year. Some well-known Hollywood stars have already been considered favorites for the role in recent years – including “Gladiator” star Paul Mescal (28), Regé-Jean Page (35), known from “Bridgerton”, and Marvel star Aaron Taylor-Johnson ( 33).
