For the first time, the preserved pages from the great researcher’s original manuscript can be viewed online. They show how the theory of evolution gradually emerged – and contain some surprises.
For more than 20 years, the British naturalist Charles Darwin collected evidence for his theory of evolution. In November 1859 his famous work “On the Origin of Species” was published – in German: “On the Origin of Species”. In it, Darwin explains his then-revolutionary idea that all species – including humans – gradually developed from a common original form.
