Orange Friday, red Saturday… Update on Bison Futé’s forecasts for this weekend

The road looks long, very long. In the direction of returns in this eighth weekend of summer, the traffic looks particularly dense: Bison smart sees red in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the South-East at the end of the week, and on all the roads of France on Saturday. From Friday until Monday, “returns to the north take precedence over departures to coastal regions,” observes Bison smart.

Motorists will have to plan their trips by also playing on a crucial parameter: the heat. Because yes, 19 departments, mainly in the South, were placed in heat wave orange vigilance from Friday. For Friday, Météo-France announces maximums between 31 and 35 degrees, locally 36 to 38 in Provence and the Rhône valley, and the high temperatures are expected to continue this weekend in the center-east and the south of France.

Friday classified orange at the national

On the road side, the traffic will already be very dense on Friday: the day is classified orange at the national level and red in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes as well as on the Mediterranean arc. Traffic will be difficult on Saturday throughout the territory in the direction of returns, and in particular on the A7, A9 and A10 motorways, as well as the national N165 (Quimper-Nantes).

Bison futé thus advises to reach or cross Ile-de-France before 2 p.m., but also to avoid the A7 motorway between Orange and Lyon from 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., the A9 between Narbonne and Montpellier from 11 a.m. 5 p.m. and between Montpellier and Orange, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., in particular. He expects heavy traffic in the Mont Blanc tunnel to Italy from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The South-East arc still very congested on Sunday

Sunday traffic will remain very difficult, especially in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, with heavy traffic from the start of the afternoon towards Île-de-France. The A7, A9, A10 motorways should experience very significant difficulties from the start of the afternoon.

Returns should continue on Monday, adds Bison futé, who predicts that it will be very difficult to drive on the A10 motorway throughout the afternoon. In the direction of departures, the day is classified as orange on Saturday, green on Friday and Sunday.
