An optical illusion is circulating on social media right now. “Benowine” posted a picture of a black and white distorted circle on Twitter. Hidden in the middle of the circle is a sequence of numbers. He writes: “Do you see a number? If so, which number”? The answers of the users could hardly be more different. “45 283 … and what’s the catch?”, Another writes: “I can only see 528.” Another user thinks that this can be related to the contrast sensitivity of the eye, which numbers each individual person recognizes. The picture that was posted as an optical illusion, is in reality no illusion for the eye, only makes it more difficult to read the numbers due to the overlay with the high-contrast pattern.
