Demonstration canceled again despite new conditions
Shortly after a court ruling by the administrative court that would have allowed a higher number of participants at the rally, “Munich-stands-up” canceled a stationary demonstration on the Theresienwiese on their website. According to the organizers, the conditions are “unacceptable”.
Urgent applications against stationary demonstration
With an urgent application to the administrative court, the organizers of a demonstration against compulsory vaccinations and corona measures in Munich wanted to prevent a demonstration from taking place and the protest from being held in stationary locations on the Theresienwiese. The Munich court announced that the corresponding application had already been received on Tuesday evening.
Limitation to 2,000 participants criticized
According to the court, the urgent application concerned, among other things, the ban on the demonstration march with 5,000 people registered and the relocation of the rally from the university district to the Theresienwiese. The organizers also criticized the limit of 2,000 participants. On this one point, the court agreed with the opponents of the anti-corona measures: The event on the Theresienwiese should have taken place with 5,000 instead of 2,000 participants as ordered by the city.
The city of Munich announced the restrictions on Tuesday. The city justified the ban in the recent past in not being able to keep such demonstrations with a high number of people under control and to implement conditions such as the distance requirement or the mask requirement.
Aggression and violence on “corona walks”
The organizers canceled a demonstration on December 22nd because of restrictions that were also imposed at the time. Instead, thousands of people met for “Corona walks” and clashed with the police. Something similar happened in Schweinfurt, where there was aggression and violence.
Calls for violence on social media beforehand
The police have already announced that they now want to watch very closely what is going on around the originally planned Wednesday move against mandatory vaccination. A difficult task, as a glance at social networks reveals. Among other things, there was a call there to bring knives with you in order to be able to defend yourself against emergency services, the spokesman reported.
In other communications it was about taking children in the front row. However, parents must be aware of their responsibility for their children. Police unions urged not to use children as shields. A police spokesman had said in advance that a police spokesman would not tolerate a break in police chains like last week.
Municipalities prohibit alternative events
Munich initially banned the unannounced protest meetings on the corona policy up to and including Thursday. The aim is to prevent “wild growth” of these demos with participants who are in part willing to use violence and who do not maintain minimum distances or wear mouth and nose covers. Other municipalities such as the city of Schweinfurt or the district of Hassberge also banned meetings disguised as walks.
