Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy posed for photographers at the premiere in London. Shortly thereafter, they left the celebration because the actors’ strike was called in Hollywood.

Just one almond a day: According to Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy ate extremely little to lose weight for his role in “Oppenheimer”.

Cillian Murphy (47) went on an extreme diet in order to transform herself into the very slim scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer for the film “Oppenheimer”. His colleague Emily Blunt (40) revealed this in an interview with “Extra”.

“He was so emaciated”

The actress, who plays Oppenheimer’s wife Kitty in the film, said: “He had such a monumental undertaking. And he could only eat about an almond a day. He was so emaciated.”

Murphy himself had already spoken about losing weight for the role: “I love to play with my body, and Oppenheimer had a very distinct physicality and silhouette that I wanted to get right,” he told the New York Times in May. “I had to lose some weight,” the actor explained. “He was very slim, almost emaciated, lived on martinis and cigarettes.” He told The Guardian that his diet tactics are not recommended and should not be imitated by others. “You compete with yourself, which is not healthy. I advise against it.” He also did not want to reveal how many kilograms he had lost for the role and which foods he had avoided in consultation with a nutritionist.

In the meantime, the actor has put on a bit of weight again, as could be seen at the premiere celebrations.

The history of the atomic bomb development

The film will be in German cinemas on July 20th. Christopher Nolan’s star-studded drama (which also stars Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon) tells the true story of physicist Robert Oppenheimer’s (Murphy) development of the atomic bomb during World War II.
