Opinion: The corona policy is annoying and I’m tired of it

Corona pandemic
All corona rules observed and still there is a risk of winter in lockdown. I’m tired of this

Germany is facing the second Corona winter, although a large part of the population has adhered to the measures. Given the politics in this country, your collar can burst.

I went through everything: I spent last winter alone in my apartment because of Corona, didn’t visit my mother for months, kept contact restrictions, kept my distance, had a vaccine injected twice, which was developed and approved for me as a layman surprisingly quickly. I also had myself tested for Corona when I assumed full vaccination protection and was allowed to pay for the tests myself. All with the aim of doing my part to return to normal as quickly as possible.

That was the promise that politicians made to the citizens: If a large number of them abide by the rules and get vaccinated, then normal life will return. And now, with Omikron, the next Corona variant is just around the corner, as is the next lockdown, which, given the far higher numbers of infections and incidences than a year ago, can hardly be avoided – regardless of how long the outgoing and upcoming federal governments are concerned with the decision push around.

Not in the mood for Corona anymore

I no longer feel like attending Prime Ministerial Conferences at which something is decided “together” and it takes less than 48 hours before the first federal state decides something against the decisions of the MPK.

I no longer feel like politicians like Markus Söder, who is largely responsible for one of the worst corona situations in Germany in Bavaria, but constantly crows advice and demands in the direction of Berlin and other federal states.

I don’t feel like discussing with people who don’t want to be vaccinated (!) – for fear of long-term consequences. If things go bad, these people will no longer experience any long-term effects. And if things go even worse, they have contributed to the deaths of others beforehand – not to mention the overloading of hospitals and intensive care units. (I’m also not in the mood for emails from unvaccinated smartassists and YouTube virologists, please save yourself the trouble.)

I no longer feel like politicians who take the opinions of these egoists more seriously than those of experts.

Not in the mood for “I didn’t suspect”

I’m tired of politicians who didn’t suspect any of this. Yes, you could have guessed it if you had listened to the experts.

I’m tired of the authorities that approve carnival celebrations and full football stadiums.

I’m tired of the fact that after more than a year and a half of the corona pandemic, no sensible concept for schools and the protection of children has been implemented.

I don’t feel like politicians anymore who are still abandoning the overworked and underpaid staff in hospitals and nursing homes, which were already overworked and underpaid before the pandemic.

The second Corona winter

And I’m just a guy with a steady income and a warm apartment who is dreading the second Corona winter. I don’t even want to imagine how parents, single parents, young people, children, the poor and people with mental health problems are doing.

But for you and for all people for whom a corona infection could mean death, I will do everything this winter as well. Even if I don’t feel like it anymore.
