Opera: Orpheus in a triple pack – Munich

The State Opera, the Gärtnerplatztheater, on vacation, at most the porters are still there. A hard dry spell for all Munich residents who are not really drawn to Salzburg, Bayreuth or Bregenz. But those in the know know that there is a place in the city where opera is still played, at least up to the Ferragosto, as the Italians say, the magical August 15th, which always falls on the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. “Orpheus”, this special jubilee project for the 25th birthday of the Little Pasinger Opera, can be experienced in the carriage hall of the Pasing factory. Interpretations of the Orpheus myth from three centuries of opera history, by Claudio Monteverdi, Christoph Willibald Gluck and Jacques Offenbach in one evening. What the musical director Andreas Pascal Heinzmann, director Melanie Renz and librettist Paul Wiborny dare to do here is courageous and probably not yet tried. And because it’s a birthday break, the audience will see many popular singers from past opera productions, such as Karolina Plicková as Persephone, tenor Stefan Kastner as Pluto, Sven Fürst as Charon or Carolin Ritter as Amor.

Orpheus, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 14 August at 7.30 p.m., as well as 13 and 15 August at 5 p.m. Tickets at the box office of Pasinger Fabrik, August-Exter-Str. 1 (Pasing train station, north side), Tue – Sun, 5.30 p.m. – 8.30 p.m., phone 82 92 90 79 or at Munich Ticket
